FAQs
MENORCA
Why Menorca?
We have always loved visiting the magical Balearic Islands in Spain with Zanna’s family and Menorca is where we got engaged! This part of Spain is so special to us and we can’t wait to share it with all of our closest friends and family.
Is it far?
The distance to Menorca may vary depending on your departure city, but yes, it’s a bit far! If coming from the US, you’ll have a connection somewhere, and you’ll need to rent a car or arrange for a taxi to get from your arrival airport in Menorca (MAH) to your hotel.
Where should I stay?
Check out our Travel & Stay tab!
Is Menorca safe?
Menorca is very safe and quiet! It’s a small island and everyone is very friendly. As always, be mindful of your surroundings when traveling in the bigger cities (Mahon and Ciutadella).
I’d like to travel before or after. Where should I go?
We know most of you already have your travel plans sorted out, but if you need ideas, reach out to us! We highly recommend checking out Mallorca for a few days if you have time :) There are a handful of ferry options that take 1-2 hours to Mallorca from Menorca.
WEDDING
Are kids invited?
We love kids so much (we hope to have some of our own one day!), however we have decided to keep our wedding weekend adults-only. If you have any questions or need to make arrangements for childcare, please let us know!
Can I bring a date?
Due to limited space, we are only able to accommodate those guests formally invited on your wedding invitation. Thank you for understanding!
I’m just here for the food. What are we having?
So glad you asked. Throughout the week, we will be having amazing traditional Spanish food - think tapas, paella, and sangria! Our wedding dinner will be family style, with most of the delicious dishes coming from the farm at the venue itself! For those who RSVP’d with dietary needs, you will be accommodated.
Am I able to change or edit my answers on my RSVP?
Yes! You can go through the RSVP flow again if you need to edit your answer.
On a scale of 1-10, how hungry should I come?
We recommend being a 6 to an 8 on the hunger scale – not so hungry you’ll be distracted during the ceremony, but hungry enough to have a big appetite for the cocktail hour and dinner!
What should I expect in terms of weather?
We are anticipating gorgeously warm (but not too warm) weather at the end of May! Having been there many times during May, we kindddd of think it’s as perfect as it gets in Menorca. Temperatures are usually in the mid to high 70s during the day and the high 50s in the evenings. With that said, it is a small little island in the middle of the sea, so weather can change quite quickly. We encourage you to bring layers, especially in the evening!
Can I take photos during the ceremony?
We have hired an amazing photo and video crew, and kindly request that guests refrain from taking photos during the actual ceremony. We will remind you about this before the ceremony starts. Feel free to snap shots once we’ve sealed the deal :)
Who is officiating the wedding?
Our dear friend, Frederik, who has been there from the beginning of our relationship! He’s a Dane (one of them foreigners), so apologies in advance if he says something inappropriate 🙃
ATTIRE
What should I wear to the wedding?
Black tie! Check out our Pinterest Board for inspo!
A “destination” wedding means I can wear jorts to the wedding, right?
Nope, no it does not.
Can I wear white to the wedding?
Also no.
Can I wear white to welcome dinner or sunset drinks?
Sure! We would love to see you all in gorgeous neutrals – whites included – against the Balearic blue Sea.
Should I wear heels to the wedding?
Wear your best dancing shoes! If you opt for heels, please note that the ceremony and the pathways will be on uneven stone. Chunkier heels, sandals or flats preferred!
TRANSPORTATION
Should I rent a car?
We highly recommend renting a car during your stay in Menorca - it makes it easy to get to your hotel and explore what the island has to offer! The roads getting around Menorca are an easy drive, and honestly, quite beautiful - but beware they use roundabouts so if your significant other is your GPS communicator, “go straight” is one you’ll need to figure out together.
When renting a car, make sure to reserve in advance, especially if you want an automatic transmission. We recommend using Record Go, but there are many other rental companies. Most booking platforms will default to a manual transmission, so ensure that you're selecting the option you want when booking.
Note: Legally, an International Driver’s Permit is required to drive in Spain. AAA offers them via mail or at one of their offices (you can get them same day in the office, and you don’t need a membership). You may or may not be asked by car rental agencies but if you get pulled over, it most likely will be requested by officials.
I don’t plan on renting a car, can I just plan to take Ubers?
Bobby tried to work some magic, but alas, there is no Uber on the island. There is one licensed taxi provider on Menorca, and reservations can be made through their website or by calling 971367111 or 971482222. The prices are fair, upfront, and controlled by the government. Also, know that Menorca law limits only up to four riders per driver!
Will there be shuttles for the events and the wedding?
Yes! We will have shuttles for our Menorca Experimental and Fontenille Torre Vella guests picking up from (and taking you back to) for the welcome dinner and the wedding. Please coordinate your own transportation for the events on the 28th.
I’m not staying at one of the pickup hotels, how should I get to the welcome dinner and wedding?
For those of you not staying at those hotels, you’ll want to coordinate a taxi or shuttle. If you’re having trouble, please reach out to us!
Do I need to reserve a spot on the shuttle?
If you’re staying at either Menorca Experimental or Fontenille Torre Vella, you do not need to reserve anything - we will have shuttles available to pick you up and drop you off.
If you’re not staying at a pickup hotel and would like to reserve a seat on one of the shuttles (you’ll still need to find your way to one of the pickup hotels to catch a shuttle), please email us at zandbsaysi@gmail.com or text us by May 10 so we can ensure we reserve extra space for you.
If I want to drive myself, will there be parking at the venue?
There is parking onsite at Son Blanc Farmhouse, but it is limited. We recommend taking one of the shuttles or a taxi if you can. If you plan to drive and park at Son Blanc for the wedding, please let us know!
OTHER STUFF
What are we doing with our last names?
The PC thing to do would be to hyphenate, but we’re looking out for our future children; Rasmussen-Scrimgeour isn’t going to fit on the back of a basketball jersey. So, we’re still noodling on it. For now, we plan on just keeping the names we have. Zanna sometimes imagines coming up with a brand new last name, so if you have some good suggestions (Zanna Zambiano? Zandiana Jones?), by all means send them our way.
Is Nigel (aka “little chef,” aka “Jeff”) coming to the wedding?
Our little orange Maine Coon buddy will sadly not be able to make it. He’s not a huge fan of flying and he sheds wayyy too much if anyone is trying to keep their tuxedo black 😜 He will be there with us in spirit as we get PURRR-nounced hubby + wifey.
Can I bring a gift to the wedding?
Your presence is the greatest gift of all, and we are simply thrilled to celebrate with you! If you do insist on a gift, here is our REGISTRY page. We kindly ask to not bring physical items to Menorca, as we tend to overpack as it is.
Are you going on a honeymoon?
Yes! Eventually! We’ll be hanging in Mallorca for a few days after the wedding weekend to relax for a little “mini-moon”, and then we’ll be headed back to SF. We have our eyes set on a snowboarding trip in Hokkaido sometime in the next year or so :)
Do you have a wedding planner or travel agent we can contact if we need help?
Nope! We are doing it ourselves 😅 You can contact us with questions at zandbsaysi@gmail.com or text us if you need help.
